Christie and Kyle were married on July 27th, with a ceremony and reception at Island Lake Lodge in Fernie, British Columbia.
My second shooter, Troi Crombie, and I started out the day taking pictures of these two getting ready before we headed down to the ceremony at the lake on Dew Point. The location was absolutely beautiful, and I ended up climbing a tree in order to get a shot of Christie running down the aisle. The guests thought I was crazy, but it ended up being one of my favorite images of the day.
After the ceremony, we tried to take wedding portraits, but we were a little waylaid when it started to rain really stinking hard. We had to hide out in the vehicles for a while, but we persevered and got some really great shots all the same. I especially loved the dark and moody shot of Christie walking into the forest on the path.
Then, it was off to the reception! Christie’s reaction to seeing the venue all decorated for the party was truly touching; she got a bit emotional. And for good reason; Sheryl Boury, the day-of coordinator for Lynn Fletcher Weddings, really outdid herself—the ambiance was perfect.
From there, it was a whole lot of dancing and fun as everyone celebrated the new life path that these two have chosen to take together. Probably my favorite image from the whole reception was when Christie and Kyle were having their first dance—and their little son tried to join in.
Thank you, Kyle & Christie, for entrusting me with capturing your day! I absolutely loved being part of it, and I wish you both a future filled with nothing but love.
