Christina and Peter were married on July 18th, with a ceremony and reception at the Island Lake Lodge.
This was the perfect venue for Christina and Peter, because they are such fun-loving, outdoorsy people. They were totally willing to hike, canoe, and go on all sorts of adventures with me to capture their portraits. When it comes to Fernie weddings, the Island Lake Lodge is an inspired choice for rustic, mountain ceremonies and receptions. The gorgeous backdrops provided by the lodge and its natural setting fit perfectly into their personalities.
Christina and Peter actually started out the day in canoes for their first look—which really set the tone for the rest of the day. It’s not every bride and groom who are excited to hop into canoes for their portraits! They also brought their hiking boots for portraits in the Old Growth Forest. This officially made Christina a member of my unofficial hiking brides club! It was well worth the hike, since the portraits deep in this majestic forest are truly unique.
I particularly loved the images of the two of them with the water behind them. The reflection was perfect, the setting was beautiful, and the look that they were sharing was filled with so much love. Another of my favourites is the image of Christina with her dress hiked up to run by the lake—it perfectly captured exactly how easy-going and fun these two were the whole time.
I enjoyed the down-to-earth approach that Christina and Peter had to their day. They didn’t want anything big or fancy, so they opted for an intimate wedding of mostly family, with only about 30 guests in total. That allowed them to really focus on each other and on having a blast canoeing, hiking, and just living in the moment.
Peter & Christina, thank you so much for asking me to be your wedding photographer. I loved getting to know you both. I’m happy your wedding day was filled with love and adventure. And Christina—welcome to the 6:8 Photography Hiking Brides Club!
