Darcie and Harald are going to be married later this summer at the incomparable Island Lake Lodge here in Fernie. When I met with them for their consultation we decided that it would be a fun split to go do their engagement photos in downtown Calgary.
Typically when we meet clients on their engagement session it is only the second time that we have met, and often the first time in months. As such, a round of hellos and reintroductions is usually in order. This was the case with Darcie and Harald and we briefly connected at a Starbucks before heading out on their session.
This is where I admit to being incredible awkward, because right after saying hi to Darcie and Harald we agreed that they would follow me in their vehicle to the first location. I immediately (like first turn out of the Starbucks) turned the wrong way down a one-way street.
How’s that for awkward?
Fortunately they didn’t follow me, and fortunately no traffic was oncoming. They patiently waited while I extricated myself. (That involved driving up on a curb and ducking back into the parking lot) They were very gracious, and it provided much fodder for conversation and ribbing throughout the rest of the session. We always say that we go the extra mile to break the ice. Oy.
