I started out photographing the “getting ready” portion of the day before the ceremony, before we headed to the Birch Meadows Lodge. We had an eye on the weather the entire time, because it looked like it was going to pour, and it kept raining on and off like crazy. But eventually, they decided to go ahead with the ceremony, and the worst of the weather held off—mostly—for the ceremony.
Elleda and Adam wanted to have their wedding out on the lawn, come what may, and their resiliency was amazing to watch in the face of the uncertain weather. It ended up working out, but I couldn’t help being struck by how determined these two were and how they were willing to stand together. That’s the mark of a partnership and love that will stand the test of time.
One of my favourite images of the day was of Elleda’s mom and her aunt as Elleda was walking down the aisle. Her aunt had her hands clasped together and pressed to her mouth, and no one could mistake the pure emotion in that moment.
Of course, the beautiful Fernie setting made for some astonishing images as well, with purple blossoms as well as the majestic Rocky Mountains creating the perfect backdrop for these two. Even though I was only there for a few hours, the pure joy, the beautiful setting, and the obvious love these two had for each other made my job so easy that even that short time flew by.
Adam & Elleda, thank you for the chance to be part of your special day. Sorry it took me so long to post this one—we’ll call it an anniversary post! It was super fun to look back over the photos of your day.
