Alexandra and Josh first met in September 2009 when she started grad school at the University of Alberta. They were in the same research group studying rocks from the Cayman Islands and were also teaching assistants together and became friends over the year.

In August 2010, Alexandra and Josh went on a field trip to the Cayman Islands to collect rocks in the middle of the jungle and scorching heat. Their friendship developed, and they began dating in November 2010.

Alexandra and Josh love the mountains and spend their free time biking, skiing, fishing, camping, and even surfing. They enjoy traveling together but also love to spend time at home with their dog, Benji, and their cat, Carson.

The couple got engaged on November 18, 2018. Check out the story of their proposal in their own words:

Alexandra:  I knew that Josh was going to propose because we had been talking about it for a couple months. I had sent him pictures of ring designs that I liked because he was having a ring custom made. We were planning a weekend getaway for our 8 year anniversary, and I was hoping that he would propose then. He told me that, sadly, the ring wasn’t going to be ready until Christmas. He booked a surprise trip to Nipika Mountain Resort for our anniversary, and we had a wonderful weekend of relaxing in front of the fire, walking our dog Benji and cooking delicious meals. On our last night we were sitting in front of the fire with Benji curled up by us on the couch. He asked me if I was happy, and I said yes. He then put a small box in front of me and asked me if I would marry him. I was so confused! I said yes, and it was the perfect end to our weekend.

Josh: I had been planning the day for a while. I knew it had to be a surprise, and I knew it had to be in the mountains. A little get-a-way at Nipika Resort fit the bill perfectly. We had the whole resort to ourselves, bluebird skies and fresh powder. After a nice meal, a drink and next to a roaring fire in our little cabin, I popped the question. The best thing was Alexandra was genuinely surprised.

I was recommended this blog by my cousin. I am not
sure whether this post is written by him as nobody else know such
detailed about my difficulty. You are wonderful! Thanks!

First of all I want to say terrific blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind.

I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear your
mind before writing. I’ve had difficulty clearing my
mind in getting my ideas out there. I truly do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually wasted simply just trying
to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or tips? Kudos!
