Jennifer and Winston were married on January 28th, with a ceremony and reception at Elkview Lodge in Fernie.

I actually met Jennifer and Winston for the first time after they had been evacuated from their home last year during the Fort McMurray wildfire. Even though it was an obviously trying time for them, they were incredibly positive and gracious, and they left a lasting impression on me. So, when the time came for their wedding, I was more than excited to be there for them!

Winston and Jenn had picked Fernie as their wedding location because it is one of their favourite ski locations. They are even skiing for their honeymoon—starting in Fernie and then arriving home in Fort McMurray after a month of skiing through interior BC!

I started out the day photographing first Winston and his guys as they got ready and then Jenn and her girls before it was off to the ceremony. Both of them were tearing up during the ceremony, and throughout the day, they were super affectionate towards one another, which was sweet to see.

These two were so easy to photograph, not only because of that genuine emotion, but because they had a vision of what they wanted. They went into the wedding wanting outdoor pictures to take advantage of the amazing surroundings of the property and townsite, and we were absolutely on the same page when it came to pictures. In fact, at one point during the portraits, Jenn and Winston were traveling in their own vehicle behind me when I saw some gorgeous light and pulled over. Without being told, they basically started running through a snowbank toward the very spot where I wanted to shoot!

They also poured some real effort into the details of this wedding, with several handmade items for guests to enjoy. The guests took home homemade soap in a gable box, and the guest book table had postcards addressed to the bride and groom inside a homemade mailbox. Jenn had also made necklaces for all her bridesmaids, and her mother and one of her bridesmaids were the ones to make the cake!

Jenn & Winston, what can I say? Spending the day with both of you was fantastic, and I can’t wait to head out on the slopes with you on one of your next trips through Fernie!

Its like you read my mind! You appear to know a lot
about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think
that you could do with some pics to drive the message home a bit, but instead of
that, this is great blog. An excellent read.
I will definitely be back.

My programmer is trying to persuade me to move to .net from PHP.

I have always disliked the idea because of the costs. But he’s tryiong none
the less. I’ve been using Movable-type on a number of websites for about a year and am concerned about switching to another platform.
I have heard good things about blogengine.net. Is there a way
I can import all my wordpress posts into it? Any kind
of help would be really appreciated!
