Jenna and Leigh were married on May 20th, with a ceremony and reception at Elkview Lodge. This wedding was particularly special to me because Jenna is my sister, and I wanted to make sure her photography—and, really, the entire wedding—was as perfect as possible.
Jenna currently lives in Edmonton, but since she grew up in Elk Valley, she wanted to have her wedding in the mountains of Fernie, which meant I got to see my amazing sister in one of the most stunning settings—a real win all around.
I got to be with Jenna as she was getting ready for the day, and then we grabbed some portraits before the ceremony, where I was so proud to see her making those forever promises to the love of her life.
One of my favourite images from the day was during the ceremony. I was able to get a wide angle shot from the back of the aisle that showcases the town as well as the weather—which was absolutely amazing for the entire weekend. It was kind of magical!
Leigh gave a touching speech thanking his family and friends, and I got to see something that I had never seen before—Leigh cried. Jenna cried as well, and I was floored; this just wasn’t something I had experienced. Ever. But it was interesting to see that they cry in exactly the same way, covering their faces with their hands. The emotion of the moment clearly overcame both of them—and I’ll admit that I got caught up in it as well.
Well, Jenna, I know that you’ve watched this blog for many years now, and you finally get to make an appearance! I’m so excited for you and Leigh, and I look forward to the many adventures you will have with him and to the ones we’ll have together as well in the years to come.
