I ‘met’ Jill and Sean about three minutes before their wedding, when Shacarra (our summer student) and I pulled up at the entrance to the Giant Cottonwood Forest just outside of Fernie. In reality, I felt like I had met Jill and Sean a long, long time ago. They first contacted me about shooting their wedding a couple of years back. Plans never came together back then, so when I got a message from Jill about their plans for a really intimate wedding this summer, I was thrilled. Sometimes you get a great sense of a person through their emails; and I was confident heading in that I was going to enjoy working with them both very much. I was able to easily convince them to do their ceremony in the evening light (what a treat as a wedding photographer to not have to deal with harsh mid-day light!) and we had some fun exploring some locations in and around Fernie. Even though Jill is 7 months pregnant, she promised that she wouldn’t complain at all about the hiking and adventuring that we were going to get up to, and she didn’t. Not even when giant man-eating burs threatened to consume her dress.
I hope that you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed making them!
A little splash of colour and a lovely bouquet from Carmen at the Green Petal here in Fernie.
