I met up with Kari and Steve for an engagement session in Fernie on January 6th, and I loved getting to know these two ahead of their wedding!
Kari and Steve met at the end of high school, where they played on the same intramural football team. They would meet up with the team at lunch, and Steve tried to occasionally make awkward small talk (his words!) until they finally started to date.
The two of them love to travel and have gone on many trips together, so Steve decided to collect images of the two of them from their various adventures, as well as mementos, to put into an album. He decided to give this album to her at the Glenmore reservoir, near where he lived, because the two of them had often gone on walks together there when they first started dating. It was a private place, which was perfect, since Kari didn’t want a public proposal, and he decided to combine giving her the album with the proposal itself.
They wandered around until they found the perfect spot by the water, though according to Steve, it was hard to eat because of how many butterflies were in his stomach. Finally, he brought out the album from the bag he’d brought along, and when he she got toward the end of the album, he got down on one knee and proposed!
Now, the two of them are looking ahead toward so many more adventures together and already have plans to travel around the world and across Canada before eventually settling down, having kids, and growing old together.
Kari & Steve, thank you for letting me be part of this exciting time in your lives! I was absolutely honored to be able to be your engagement photographer.
