Kathryn & Dennis celebrated their winter wedding at the Elk View Lodge here in Fernie a few weekends ago. Feels like a little bit of deja vu from Alison & Kevin’s wedding back at the start of March – this time without the -40 temperatures!
April is a funny month in Fernie – everything is usually melting in town, but there’s always tons of snow in the trees. Kathryn was initiated into the hiking brides club right away, and didn’t hesitate at all to trudge through the deep snow (in her heels) for our first location.
Thanks to the wedding party (especially Dennis’ brother) who hiked into the deep snow with us for a few shots. Dress shoes don’t provide much traction or keep the snow out when you sink up to your knees!
Thankfully the skies cleared a little and we could see some of the mountains around Fernie!

I love this series of shots.
After their portraits it was back to the Elk View Lodge for the ceremony.
We had a few minutes between cocktails and dinner to head up to the roof for a few more portraits.
Kathryn’s family is from the US. Her dad gave a pretty funny speech talking about Canadianisms.
Dennis’ mom during the speeches.
