Having met on a ski trip, it seemed fitting that Kathy & Dave celebrated their wedding at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. To say that the day was relaxed and casual would be an understatement. Just an awesome time hanging out with a bunch of fun people in the mountains – what more could you ask for?!
A couple relaxed portraits before their first look.
After their first look up at the base of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort we jumped in the car to go get some shots in town. No wedding in Golden would be complete without a few shots at the signature pedestrian bridge.
Then it was back up to the summit for some portraits with just Kathy and Dave before their ceremony. Kathy was a trooper and hiked everywhere we asked without hesitation, and even did so in her heels since we forgot to grab her hikers before heading out!
Love this shot of Kathy and Dave with the Stairway to Heaven chair in the background!
There are just some shots you can’t easily get when you’re shooting solo at a wedding! The next two are a great example of the advantage of having two photographers. I was down the ridge with them getting some portraits while Kevan was back at the top doing capturing some details. When I sent them hiking back up for the ceremony we were able to get the shot from two different angles and get really different images.
When I was getting the final details for Kathy & Dave’s day she asked me what I thought about them doing their dance out on the patio. All the other weddings we’ve shot at Kicking Horse has the dance behind the fireplace, so I was excited to try something different. Apparently this was a first and nobody has ever requested it. Turns out it was a great idea, though only for their first dances because it was FREEZING outside!
