Meghan and Matt were married on August 27th, with a ceremony in Ladysmith, British Columbia followed by a reception at the Oceanview Community Church.
Meghan and Matt are close personal friends of ours, so Meghan, in particular, was really excited about the photography and totally willing to trust me. Matt is one of the pastors at our church, and Meghan works there now as well coordinating children’s programs. Before that, she ran the community literacy position that my wife had run until she went on maternity leave with our second child. So to say that there was a whole community worth of people with a vested interest in these two being happy is an understatement.
After a beautiful ceremony, I went into a little forest near the church with these two amazing people, and a local homeowner approached us. He asked if we would like to get access to the oceanfront, and when we said yes, he took us to a friend’s house with a spectacular little rocky beach and low-hanging trees. It ended up being one of my favourite portraits for sure, and all because a random stranger offered it to us!
But that’s typical of Meghan and Matt. They are so good that their goodness comes back around to them. I loved working with them, and they trusted me so much—so we were able to get amazing pictures together! I especially liked the image of Meghan hiking up her dress and wading across the stream.
Matt & Meghan, I know that I speak for many people when I say that it was fun to be able to celebrate you as individuals and as a couple. You have both done so much to build up the lives of other people, and it was special for all of us to be part of building up yours. I know that there are big things in store for you together and can’t wait to see where God takes you.
