Even though they’re flat-landers from Regina, Taegen and Dustin try to get out to Fernie as much as they can to enjoy the mountains, so fitting that they had their wedding here in Fernie.

Planning a wedding from two provinces away is tough enough, but they had some extra challenges with someone back in Saskatchewan which forced them to change their date to the weekend before.  While I can’t get into specifics about the situation, I can say that it was a blessing in disguise.  The day of their wedding we had perfect weather; nice sunny skies, a bit of a breeze, and not too hot.  The weekend after, which was their original date, it was the complete opposite with high winds, rain, and generally miserable weather for most of the time we would have been shooting their wedding.

Taegen and Dustin had their ceremony out at Birch Meadows Bed & Breakfast just outside of Fernie and their reception was at the Stanford.  I’ve done a lot of weddings in Fernie, but both of these venues were new for me (ok – I’ve actually shot at the Stanford before but it was in their conference room in the basement).  Nice to try something different and I’d recommend both for couples looking for different options.

I love the framing in this shot.

Pretty nice backdrop at Birch Meadows for a wedding!

We had a pretty good time taking pictures.

The fact that Taegen is wearing running shoes and is on a plank crossing a creek means she’s officially inducted into the Hiking Brides Club.

Flowers by the incredibly talented ladies at The Green Petal.  Their work just keeps getting better!

Thanks for an awesome day Taegen & Dustin and I look forward to bumping into you guys in Fernie on your next adventure!
