I met up with Tammy and Mark on November 15th in Fernie, BC, for an engagement session out and about on a beautiful fall day.
Since this engagement session was at the tail end of autumn, we had not only the fall foliage but the first of the snow up in the mountains for a stunning backdrop. The light for this session was particularly beautiful, and we got a great sun flare for the very first black and white portrait that ended up being my favourite image of the whole session.
It would be so easy for the locations to outshine everything else, with the majestic mountains and the rustic barn and the trees just shedding the last of their leaves, but Tammy and Mark were golden through the entire session, shining even brighter than the backgrounds with the pure connection that they had.
I loved how comfortable the two of them were around each other, holding hands, being together, and just showing off what a couple in love and about to get married is supposed to look like. That kind of natural connection makes my job as a photographer easy—they already have it all, and I’m just there to capture it for them.
Mark & Tammy, thank you for an amazing day out in Fernie. I’m so excited for your upcoming wedding on July 8th and can’t wait to see you both again to take part in the beginning of a whole new chapter in your lives.
Thanks also to Decoro Portraits, who did the makeup for this session. I love it when my couples get professionally ready for engagement sessions as well as weddings, because it just makes them look that much more amazing in the pictures that they will cherish as memories for years to come.
