Tammy and Mark were married on July 8th, with a ceremony and reception at Elkview Lodge, in Fernie, BC.
For Tammy and Mark, the day was truly about celebrating with their friends and family. Because they had been dating each other for seven years, many of their friends had been around since then. There was a true spirit of camaraderie and love throughout the day.
Of course, their “Best Dog,” Logan, was a handsome addition to the wedding as well. He walked them down the aisle and then, without being prompted, sat right at their feet while Tammy and Mark were saying their vows. It was an amazing picture of family togetherness, totally unscripted.
This was one of the hottest weddings I’d done in recent years. At one point, it was up to 39 degrees Celsius, with no wind. Everyone at the wedding dealt with it differently; fanning themselves and each other, or trying to distract themselves from the heat. At the end of the ceremony, as the happy couple walked out, someone turned on a misting sprinkler at the end of the aisle. It was extremely welcome to walk through the water in that July heat.
I grabbed Tammy and Mark for some pictures in the forest and around the barn, showcasing their love for each other as well as their love for these rustic kinds of settings. It looked like they had stepped right out of a fairy tale with the trees towering all around them. Tammy later joked that we could have been playing Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” as a backdrop. I particularly love the shot of the bride and groom down by the river, where you can clearly see Tammy’s boots, as well as the image of Tammy sitting on Mark’s knee on the rock as they touched their foreheads together.
The decorations also reflected Tammy and Mark’s rustic, independent style. They made all the signage and even had an “MT” brand made that they put on everything, including the party favours—little wooden coasters with their initials.
Tammy & Mark, I couldn’t think of anyone I would rather sweat through a day with than you guys. Thank you for sharing your day with me. Thanks also to Lisa from Everlasting Impressions—you never fail to outdo yourself!
